A new venture....

Hi...my name is Dar ...yes, that is short for Darlene, but I insist that you call me Dar!  It has been a while since I have blogged, but I have decided that its time to get back into it.  Its become my dream to have an online business, so I figure that this is the best way to start...

I became an artist only 2 years ago, when someone introduced me to Artist Trading Cards.  So, I have not been creating art all of my life like many of you have.  I guess I am a late bloomer, but in this case, for sure, better late than never.  When I think of all the years I could have been making things...I wish I had discovered my talent years ago.

I did take art in high school, but back then I did not have any interest in Art whatsoever, can you imagine that?   Then when I was finished high school, I became a nanny to 2 beautiful children in Roches Point.  Where I actually sat and colored with them, and even drew a few awesome drawings, which I still have and will post them when I get a chance to.  But the idea of being an artist still didn't hit home as my life was still too busy.

But we all know that we can't or shouldn't dwell on the past, right?  During these two years, I have been most fortunate of getting to experience many incredible media's in the art world.  The first being Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) For almost my first entire year, I thought the only thing I could use were acrylics.  lol...I got pretty good at them, but then I learned about Round Robins...and I so badly wanted to participate...it was a bit expensive but well well well worth it....I was very lucky in my first Round Robin which started out with 8 participants, and eventually ended up with 5, and I got my beautiful "Things with Wings" book back!  Which I will also post pictures of when I get a chance to.  I've heard stories of people who spent similar money and never got their book back...what horrible and disrespectful thing to have happen,....soooo sad, I don't know what I would have done if I didn't get my book back, for sure I would not have been a happy camper.

Also during these 2 years I have become acquainted with my favorite LSS...Scrap Book Queens.  Where I have taken many ATC classes with Natalie, and was utterly, completely mesmerized with all of the techniques that I have been introduced to.  Vintage, Glossy and Crackle accents, copic pens, glitter pens, peel and glitz (which is my absolute favorite) and now even scrapbooking, yes, I said scrapbooking, which I never had an interest in before in my life.  But since we had been on our 6 week North American tour to California, and we took almost 4000 photos, I have had a desire to scrapbook the entire trip which I have started to do.  All of my photos are in ATC size which is 2.5 x 3.5.  I have started to create my book which I will post pictures as I go as well.  I've also discovered that I enjoy canvas arts, and even greeting cards.

It is my intention to write something every week or more often as I continue on with this venture of starting my business which is called the Image & Papercraft Artisan.  I hope that you will continue to join me
